10/28/2023 0 Comments Indian female models![]() Once a hotspot for violence, before today, there hadn't been a fatal teenage stabbing in the borough for 22 months.īut tonight, as anti-knife campaigners patrol the scene in stab vests, locals are reminded how much of a scourge violence still is. London has sadly grown used to teenagers being killed in stabbings, but in recent years Croydon has fought to bring knife crime down. He too, was thinking of his own teenage children, as he watched the forensic tent go up, and they realised the teenager had lost her life. One witness told Sky News he had to hold back the girl's devastated friends, as paramedics tried in vain to save her life. The attack happened on a busy main road, on the tram route, outside a shopping centre, and the area would have been packed with commuters, and other schoolchildren who witnessed the horror unfold. She's not alone, all day people have been drawn to this part of Croydon. "I haven't been able to concentrate all day, thinking about this poor girl and her family." ![]() When she first heard the news this morning, she was terrified. She didn’t know the victim, but her own daughter is the same age, and goes to a school nearby. ![]() Sky News correspondent one woman lays flowers at the scene, tears roll down her face. "Above all, we send our love and deepest sympathies to the girl's family at this unimaginably distressing time." "It will take some time for the Old Palace community to come to terms with this terrible news, and we will offer support to our pupils as we try to do so. In a statement, the independent girls' school said: "We are deeply shocked by the senseless and tragic death of our much-loved and valued friend and pupil. The girl was a pupil at the Old Palace of John Whitgift School, which last week announced it would close in August 2025. "So myself and a few of the other people tried to hold her back and just say, 'Look let them try and help your friend', and she was just screaming, 'Is my friend dead? She's my best friend'." He said: "There were loads of people who had just come off the bus and then I think two of the girl's friends came out and they were trying to rush over towards the body.
